Iran and Iraq are set to host the seventh edition of an international popular theater event, marking Imam Hussein's (AS) Arbaeen.
The cultural event titled "The Narratives of Pilgrims" will be held from August 28 to September 6 in conjunction with Arbaeen commemorations and the Arbaeen Walk.
Arbaeen is an annual religious event observed by millions of Muslims worldwide. It commemorates the 40th day after the martyrdom anniversary of Imam Hussein (AS), the third Shia Imam, and his loyal companions in the Battle of Karbala.
According to a media release, theater plays performed in Iran are limited to Persian or Arabic languages. However, it was noted that in Iraq, the accepted theater plays scheduled for performances can also be in Turkish, English, Urdu, and French.
Each year, millions of pilgrims undertake the Arbaeen Walk, a profound and symbolic journey that takes them from the holy city of Najaf to Imam Hussein's (AS) shrine in Karbala.
This year, Arbaeen falls on September 6 in Iran.
